THE THEOLOGY OF THE GOOD SAMARITAN: GIVING PRIORITY TO THE DIGNITY, NEEDS, AND RIGHTS OF IMMIGRANTS AND REFUGEES BEFORE THE LAW

Resumen
Este artículo argumenta que el gobierno de los Estados Unidos debe dar prioridad a la dignidad, las necesidades y los derechos de los inmigrantes y refugiados ante la ley. El gobierno estadounidense ha promulgado duras políticas y prácticas de inmigración para perseguir y empujar a los inmigrantes y refugiados al borde del abismo. Sin embargo, la deshumanización y criminalización de los inmigrantes y refugiados no sirven al bien común porque estas acciones y leyes injustas carecen de moralidad y validez; por lo tanto, deben ser rechazadas por los cristianos y las personas de buena voluntad. Dado el clima político actual que rodea el tema de la migración, a los lectores les resultará útil abordar estas conversaciones difíciles a través de la lente de virtudes cristianas, como la justicia y la caridad.
